The conference
Il Third World Conference of the Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy World Network (BSST) it is designed as a sort of sequence of specialized refresher seminars: the therapeutic strategies and tricks that have been developed in recent years to maintain the high efficacy and efficiency of the approach to the observed evolutions in psychopathological dynamics will be proposed.
It is important to consider that mental and behavioral disorders have evolved over time, this has made it necessary to readjust therapeutic techniques, even well-known disorders in the strategic tradition over time have highlighted developments and changes, which have required variations and readjustments of strategies of intervention.
To this we must add that in recent times new clinical problems have emerged in relation to the great changes in communication, relationships and lifestyles. All this has made it essential to develop new expedients and therapeutic maneuvers. Even therapy responds to the laws of evolution, if it does not adapt sooner or later it succumbs to reality.
By virtue of all this, Brief Strategic Psychotherapy satisfies the fundamental criteria of a scientific discipline: efficacy, efficiency, replicability, transmissibility and predictivity, demonstrating in the facts as well as in its epistemology to possess rigor and at the same time be driven by creativity and inventiveness never dissociated. with proven empirical efficacy.

Speakers
George Nardone
Psychotherapist and university teacher
Giorgio Nardone, founder together with Paul Watzlawick, of whom he is the only direct student and heir, of the Strategic Therapy Center of Arezzo (where he works as a psychotherapist) is considered the most prominent figure in the tradition of the Palo Alto school . He is internationally recognized both for his creativity and for his methodological rigor. This synthesis between the "artist" and the "scientist" which allowed him to create dozens of innovative therapeutic techniques and to formulate specific treatment protocols, some of which are real "best practices" of psychotherapy as in the case of obsessive phobic disorders and compulsive and eating disorders. His theoretical application formulations are considered a real "school of thought" to which scholars and professionals all over the world are inspired.

The BSST profile
Our story
The Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy World Network was founded by the 700 participants present at the 1st European Conference (held in Arezzo in November 2003) which, gathered for 4 days, analyzed the evolutions of mental health problems, comparing the models that practice psychotherapy, together with the research activity, had developed in the last decades in parallel in Europe and in the rest of the world.
Thanks to that comparison, it was clearly highlighted how some European researchers had perfected Advanced treatment protocols for specific pathologies, as well as the wording of Communication techniques that have extraordinarily increased the effectiveness and efficiency of treatments, both in the clinical setting and in organizational contexts.
The pragmatic application of the strategic and systemic approach to human interactions has revealed that it is one of the most effective operational models for solving interactive and psychopathological problems without any use of drugs.
Realizing the scientific relevance and importance that all this could mean, they decided to create a network called "Network of Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy", involving the most illustrious exponents with the task of expanding research at an international level and comparing the Models in different cultures and social contexts, facilitate publications, organize meetings in order to create an elites of professionals with the aim of promoting the development and dissemination of knowledge derived from the evolution of Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy.
On that occasion, Prof. Giorgio Nardone, Director of the Strategic Therapy Center in Arezzo, was unanimously elected Coordinator of the Network.
Mission
- Helping people, families and all those extended human systems (organizations, associations, groups) that are confronted with suffering and / or difficulties that limit their possibilities
- Organize at least every 3 years an international conference for the presentation of the most advanced researches both in the field of communication and therapy of mental and behavioral disorders
- Offer the members of the Network the most recent acquisitions concerning the main issues of brief therapy, advanced research, in order to identify ever shorter and more effective treatments
- Identify communication and problem solving models that quickly trigger the necessary change within organizational systems.
Accomplished results
We have created an international network present in 32 countries which includes professionals from public and private bodies, research and training institutes.
The recognition of the ONLINE published journal "Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy European Review" (ISSN 1826-3992) freely disseminated all over the world, to disseminate the most significant contributions of scholars and researchers by stimulating as much as possible the interactions between training, practice, theory and research
Affiliation
All participants in the International Congress will automatically have the right to become associates of the Brief Strategic and Systemic Therapy World Network, at no cost.
This is to avoid, unlike other international scientific associations, the establishment of any type of speculative lobby or closed circle for adepts only, but to create a space for exchange and constant evolution of the technique in the field of psychotherapy.
